Description

The Chokecherry is a small tree. It often forms dense, dark green then turning burgundy foliage.  This Chokecherry is grown from suckers from the parent plant, so is most likely identical in growth and color, unlike, the Schubert Chokecherry.  It is used as an ornamental tree, is used for making jams and providing food for birds.  Some pink clusters flowers may appear in April- July and red-purple fruit will mature in July to September.  A mature tree has a pyramidal crown.

The Chokecherry will grow to be 15-30 in height with a spread of 15-30 feet.  It can grow in rich moist soil or poor, drier soils.  It will grow best in full sun to part shade.
