Description

The White Pine is a large- sized evergreen tree.  It is a faster growing, hardy evergreen. It can be used as an ornamental tree, a windbreak or privacy screen. It is a beautiful blue-green color.  The leaves are long, needle-like and a slightly flexible tip.  It has cones that are slender, long and very open.  This evergreen produces pinecones every 3 to 5 years.

The white pine has a reputation for being the tallest tree in eastern North America.  It can reach 250 feet in height, but an average is 50-80 feet with a 20-40 foot spread. It can have a trunk diameter of 3-5 feet and a mature tree can be 200-250 years old.  It prefers well-drained soil and cool, humid climates.  It can also grow in rocky highlands and boggy areas.
